CHIPP 2015 Winning List Announced

The Organizing Committee of the 12th China International Press Photo Contest (CHIPP) announces the winning results of the contest in Chengdu, China’s southwest Sichuan province, on March 25, 2016. (http://www.chipp.cn/eindex.htm) The Russian photographer Sergey Ponomarev of Associated Press won the prize of Picture of the Year with the color photo “Europe Refugees”. Photographers from more than 30 countries and regions are awarded 75 prizes in CHIPP contest this year.

Xu Zugen, Chairman of China Photojournalists Society and chairman of CHIPP Organization Committee thanks Chengdu for hosting the contest when he delivered a speech at the announce ceremony. He says that CHIPP is the only international press photo conference in China. For years, it has attracted world’s attention, which expands undoubtedly China’s international influence. The CHIPP’s organizing committee wishes the contest to become a communication platform for worldwide photojournalists to exchange ideas and display their photographic works.

 Gao Yonghong, deputy director of the Press Office of Chengdu Municipal Government delivers a speech at the ceremony. She says that CHIPP opens a new window to the world for Cheng Du. She also mentions that it is a win-win situation for both two sides.

 Qi Heng, judge of 2016 CHIPP, introduces to the public the judging process of this year’s context and announces the winning list.

With the motto of “Peace and Development”, China International Press Photo Contest (CHIPP) was initially launched by Chinese Photojournalists Society in 2005 in Shenzhen, southern China’s Guangdong province and became a touring annual contest held in different Chinese cities including Shenzhen, Shanghai, Nantong, Hangzhou and Beijing. This is its second time held in Chengdu. The CHIPP organizing committee has received nearly 30,000 pictures from more than 70 countries around the world. An international judging committee composed of 13 members from 8 countries and regions worldwide worked for three days, selecting award-winning photos and photo stories in all the 8 categories.
